Bad to the Bone Endurance is a running events company which produces races from 5ks to 100k, and many of the races are local to me! Their races are primarily in the central Virginia and Colorado with their Ultras being the CO-based events.
I first found out about them when some runners at a race in July told me about an all-girls half-marathon nearby in November. At the time I didn’t really consider it, I thought I would run my race in Cleveland and that my long-distance goals would be sated, but when I started reading about the race – called Real Girls Run – I got really excited about it.
A Half Marathon & 5K run for women, ladies, girlfriends, moms, daughters, dames, madams, chicks and girls of all kinds. Women run the planet!
A race that goes through the beautiful wine country we have here, is relatively flat, and is totally girl-friendly? AND walker-friendly? Yes please, sign me up!! I’m hoping to finish this one in 2:45 and I can’t wait for it. Still a new race, the course is new for this year and seems as flat as it will get for living in the mountains.
Another of their races is the local Danger! Zombies! Run! 5k, which I’ve wrangled a non-runner friend of mine into doing with me. I’ve never done a zombie-themed race before but the prize categories look pretty awesome, including “fastest human male and female,” and “zombie with most kills.” The course is along my favorite outdoor running area here, and maybe the fear of being covered in blood Carrie-style will be the thing to make me finally run a sub-40 5k!
Bad to the Bone Endurance offered me an entry into the Real Girls Run half-marathon, but all opinions are my own.
Ooh! The scenery in that picture looks like it’d be amazing to run through. It’s a shame I’m not eligible but I hope you have tons of fun 🙂
This is a really pretty area! If you want to make the trip down, most of their races do allow men and they are equally scenic routes 🙂
