This has been a great big week for me in terms of meeting goals, so I thought I’d make a quick post to talk about what’s been going on!
- I paid off the first of my student loans! (Granted it was only a $500 loan through my university – it’s still $500 off my grand total, and kind of cool to see my first $0 balance.)
- I wrote my first guest post for another blog. I can’t wait to share it when it goes live! One of my big goals was to work to grow my blog this summer, and I’m happy with the steps I’m starting to take.
- I hit the first of my big weight loss goals – being under 200lbs for the first time I can remember. I weighed in at 198.6 on June 24 – and it was even at the end of the day after a full day of eating, not even cheating and weighing first thing out of bed! 🙂 (To be fair – it first read 185. I was excited but knew it was fooling me as I found that the scale was uneven on the floor. So I weighed twice to be sure :))
- Like I tweeted – I think I had been at a plateau I didn’t know I was really at. This week I not only weighed in under 200, I also ran my fastest mile at 11:45, did 2.5 miles in 30 minutes (I’d been consistently at 2.01-2.1 miles since I started running in November) and have otherwise just been seeing more results than I had been to this point. In the past, as long as I can remember, I NEVER sweat while working out (except maybe during high school band camp and swim season.) Since I started making a point to drink all the water I could, I’ve noticed that I will just drip sweat. (So, you know, now I’ve been introduced to the wonderful world of chafing. And I’m not happy about it.) Crazy what being so dehydrated for so long does to your body, and how fast and easily (and cheaply) that can change. All of it has been awesome.
I have a lot of things to thank for this, I think. I’ve really been making an effort to eat better. I drink a LOT of water. I’ve worked very hard at practicing contentment, which has helped my mood greatly (except when my roommates drink a gallon of my milk and don’t replace it, then follow it up with going through my newly-bought carton of eggs in two days. Just how.) Other than that, I’m really just trying to put good out because I’m a big believer that you get back what you put in. I’m going to try to do a long run this Saturday (my first, really) of 6 miles to keep the momentum going.
Since I’m so proud of all this and finally hit that 200-lb milestone, I made my fitness journey page live this week as well.
I would also be remiss not to mention the amazing things coming out of our nation’s capital and Texas this week as well. God bless the incredible Wendy Davis and her Mizunos (I sure as heck hope that company hooks her up with some more shoes) for speaking out and not letting men silence her voice and God bless the Supreme Court justices who have taken steps in granting equal rights for all Americans, straight or gay. Love is love, and there isn’t enough of it, so it should not be denied anyone who finds it.
