Van Morrison, Philosopher’s Stone. Wonder Boys came out in theaters in 2000, and I was able to see it in theaters. (I’m not really sure why my mom let me go see it without a parent – maybe she hadn’t seen previews.) It’s one of my all-time favorite movies, fantastic cast, great story, and great soundtrack. This Van Morrison song is one of my favorites, and I love to (embarrassingly) belt it whenever I’m alone.
Pitch Perfect Treble Makers, Bright Lights, Bigger City/Magic. If you follow me on Twitter, you know I’ve seen this movie (now 8!) times. I seriously die every time I watch it, and Benji is one of my favorites. If you haven’t seen it, I won’t spoil – but I dig their final performance because of him.
Led Zeppelin, When the Levee. While Sixx was here went on a total movie-watching spree, including Argo. John Goodman is one of my favorite actors (and one of the only people in the whole world I think my brain would just stop working if I were to meet,) and Ben Affleck is fantastic in it. Definitely deserved the awards it received, and great music supervision. The placement of this song was just perfect.
Rare Earth, Hey Big Brother. Who didn’t love Silver Linings Playbook? Definitely my favorite movie of the year. I love when mental illness is portrayed in a real way – people trying to live with and manage conditions. It’s not always being locked up in the loony bin living among other crazies, sometimes it’s being let out of the loony bin and left to fight for yourself. I loved it.
