What I’ve Been Up To

After I decided I was going to make a real effort to blog about my outfits and the job search and the long-distance thing – I was offered a position! I wish I had taken better pictures of the move – I tried to sell as much as I could in the short amount of time I was home while still spending a lot of time with my man (so I ended up selling next to nothing – really only unloaded my big furniture onto him and his roommates) and packed what I could in my Corolla. It was filled absolutely to the brim. I stopped to buy an air mattress on the way down and actually had to repack the passenger seat in order to fit it in, and probably over half of my stuff is still at my parent’s house.

Shannyn at Frugal Beautiful was moving at the same time, so I was really hoping she would have put up her post about her cross-country move before I took off to see how she made it work – but here I sit in a 700-square foot studio, nearly 1,000 miles away from my family. I’m still furnishing, and fervently hoping someone will visit me with a truck full of the rest of my things (I’m enjoying the minimalism, but I miss my bed) but this is the first apartment I’ve had that feels like home.

I took a position doing graphic design at a venue management firm. It’s not something I ever thought I’d be doing, but definitely something I’ve loved for a long time, so I’m really excited about it. I’m in a great, young city, with lots of music and things to do. I’m really excited about it – and still a lot of outfit photos, home decor, and long-distance laments will come. But I’m really happy – life’s good!
